MoneyGram and Farm Fresh Unite to Deliver Educational Technology to Virginia Students

SUPERVALU Foundation and MoneyGram Foundation collaborate to improve education for at-risk students attending the Achievable Dream Academies in Newport News, VA

Newport News, Virginia (October 12, 2016) — MoneyGram (NASDAQ: MGI), a global provider of innovative money transfer services, and Farm Fresh Food & Pharmacy today awarded a collective grant of $40,000 to Virginia-based non-profit An Achievable Dream. The collaboration between MoneyGram and Farm Fresh Food and Pharmacy, a SUPERVALU retail chain, provides educational technology used to promote and foster interactive STEM learning among all grade levels at the Achievable Dream Academies.

“This joint gift of innovative technology will truly have a meaningful impact on children in the Newport News community by bringing excitement and creativity to learning,” said Pamela H. Over 900 students at the Achievable Dream Academies will benefit from the joint gift which will be used to replace outdated desktop computers and other equipment. Additionally, the grant will be used to provide classroom instructors with interactive software and uniquely-designed lesson plans that aim to challenge students in new and engaging ways.

The SUPERVALU Foundation provides program-specific and general operating support for organizations in Minneapolis and St. Paul where SUPERVALU is headquartered, and in the communities in which the company’s grocery banners, such as Farm Fresh, do business. An Achievable Dream is the first recipient of a SUPERVALU Foundation grant in the Newport News area.
